IT -  Il Largo risale al settecento, ma solo a partire dalla prima metà dell’ottocento alcune famiglie borghesi cominciarono ad insediarvisi costruendo i loro palazzi a due livelli.
In essa era stata collocata una torretta con orologio, alla cui base era stata realizzata una «gogna» nella quale venivano esposti in pubblico i vassalli che violavano la giustizia del Principato di Rosolini.
Nel 1912, fu dedicata al notaio Faustino Maltese, insigne giurista, giudice conciliatore della Pretura di Rosolini, responsabile dell’Archivio notarile cittadino e studioso di storia patria. Sua l’ideazione dello stemma di Rosolini.
Una lapide commemorativa individua la sua abitazione nella piazza, dove visse ed esercitò la professione.
In essa svettano palazzi di particolare pregio, come quello costruito in parte sopra l’arco, appartenuto al dottor Sant’Angelo, notaio e politico.
Di particolare interesse la recente opera dell’artista forgiatore Giovanni Rotondo, un aquilone in acciaio nel quale è rappresentato il centro storico del paese.

EN - The “Largo” dates back to the eighteenth century, but only from the first half of the nineteenth century some bourgeois families began to settle there, building their two-level buildings.
The clock tower was built there as well. At the base of it a "pillory" was built and in which vassals ,who violated the justice of the Principality of Rosolini, were exposed to the public.
In 1912, the "Largo" was dedicated to the notary Faustino Maltese, a distinguished jurist, conciliator judge of the Rosolini Magistrates' Court, the head of the city notary archive and the scholar of the homeland history.
A commemorative plaque notifies Maltese's house in the square.The place where he lived and conducted  his profession.
There are some palaces of particular historical value there; amongst whichthere is one built partly above the arch, which belonged to Dr. Sant’Angelo, the public notary and politician.
The steel kite , by forging artist Giovanni Rotondo, which represents the historic center of the town is the interesting contemporary work placed in the square too.
